Will The CMDR Register In A CMDA Dog?
Can I Register a CMDA Dog into the CMDR?
We are the CMDR. The CMDA is another CMD registry who went their own way, keeping the breed name. The founder restarted the breed and kept it in its original vision and direction. The CMDR represents the original idea for this breed.
We only accept dogs from the CMDA whose pedigrees stem from archival lines which already exist in our database. We feel it is not ethical to register dogs with genetics developed by that registry. To date we haven’t seen any dogs with new genetics from there, so it has not been an issue. They do share archival genetics but have essentially not created diversity or improvement in those lines.
In recent years there has been divergent type, they CMDA straying from standard and producing a heavier molessoid type, while the CMDR continues with lupoid type, a tall, slender, refined, athletic dog. This is why double registration will be increasingly inappropriate. CMDA doesn’t have a public database, and so we cannot track breed composition.
Nearly all of the CMDA dogs that have been presented to the CMDR for registration have pedigrees that stem from the founder’s original lines from Crack O' Noon, with two additional studs from Ten Talents Farm, which were registered into our database when we began. Nearly all dogs which have come to us for CMDR registry, already have their full pedigrees in our database, so they can be registered in and retain their generational standings.
To protect the original breed goals and genetic diversity of our database, the CMDR will not support farms double registering with breeds or registries that split off from the original CMD.
