Available Adult CMDR Colorado Mountain Dogs
Some breeders offer fully trained adults CMD guardians, some people have life changes and need to rehome adult dogs, and some people have dogs that don’t fit in their situations, but who may flourish in another setting. Posts should specify these details. An experienced guardian has value, and placing a healthy price on your dog helps ensure his next home will value and be able to care for him or her.
Posts are $25, last 3 months, and can be purchased in our store. Then email a quality photo, descriptions, and your contact info to: coloradomountaindogs@gmail.com

Ad: SRC Altaïr of PAWD (G2), age 6, and PAWD Cloud (G3), age 2, are in need of a new flock to guard. They are a working and bonded pair, so I would like to keep them together. This grandsire and grandson are the most loving poultry guardians! They have protected against bear, mountain lion, fox, coyote, skunk, and raccoon. Altaïr also loves cattle and goats. Cloud will likely do well with them also, but has not had much experience with them. Both are intact and proven CMDR studs producing amazing pups. If it weren’t for a severe health crisis I am dealing with, these boys would spend the rest of their lives right here at Pawsable Dreams Vista. Sadly, we are instead looking for a loving ranch to put them to work. $1500 for both, to a loving home. Pawd@taylortime.net Or facebook - @PAWDVista
POSTED MARCH 3, 2025 Intact G2 Male Located in Peyton CO. Almost 3 years old (born May 30, 2022). Francis is such a lover and happy spirit. He does very well when visitors come but has shown to be protective when needed! Francis comes from amazing lines- Great grandson of Caspian, Grandson of Aslan, son of Little Bear. He has tested all clear with a wisdom panel but hasn’t been tested for CT at this point. He is proven with an amazing litter in May 2024 with Sprinkles of KFF which produced amazing pups!! Francis is all white & short haired & he does have single dew claws. Francis stands at 31 inches tall from floor to withers and he has a lot of lean muscle! He is wonderful with chickens, ducks, turkeys, goats, cats, other dogs. His best friend at his previous farm was a goat. He does good with horses as long as they are gentle with the other livestock. He hasn’t been around pigs or cows at this time but I imagine he would do well as long as he is introduced gently. We are rehoming him because at this point we would like to expand our program using his daughter and we want to make sure no oopsie litters occur which would be easiest to ensure if he’s working at a new farm. We are hopeful that he will either be able to provide genetics to another breeding program or be a wonderful LGD for a farm. We would consider him being a companion dog for a VERY active family that would have a yard with a tall fence. This sweet boy has been Kennel trained but we recommend having at least an XXL kennel so he has plenty of room. He’s high energy but has been very gentle with all our kids including the small ones! Francis is not food aggressive with females but does need to eat separate from other males. When he first arrived to our house at 18 months old there were a couple times he tried to show his dominance against our larger dominant fixed male and lost. Since then he has done great as long as they never eat by each other. He has been indoors quite a bit and is mostly house trained but primarily has not been indoors. Francis only respects fences taller than 5 feet. That said, we only have 3 acres and when he has jumped a shorter fence he stays close and protects the yard and animals. He would do best on a property with tall fencing or with more acreage than we have! $1500. Please contact Christy at 719-217-5659 or christysue1996@gmail.com for more info!
SOLD — POSTED March 3, 2025 Due to family circumstances we are selling our farm. This means our amazing CMDs are looking for their next job. Walter and Minnie are both G4s, 3yrs old, fixed. They are trained with poultry and goats and will be great with other livestock. They have defended our flocks and herds up in Lyons, CO from all kinds of predators. Trained with basic commands, leash trained and trained to walk with you off leash. They are extremely friendly and loving and need positive human interaction daily. They are great with children of all ages. They've been wonderful with our kids over the years (now 9 and 11) and with much younger kids (as little as 2). They must stay together and will do best on a farm with multiple kinds of animals. Their team work to defend is amazing! We can send them with a kennel. $3600. POSTED FEB 15,2025 PAWD Alexandra of FCF ~ G3 Colorado Mountain Dog ~ Spayed - Livestock Trained and Proven Breeder Alex is wonderful with goats and most especially loves kidding season, tending to all of the new babies as if they are her own. She keeps faces and butts clean, lets them climb all over her, they curl up with her for comfort and protection. Alex is respectful of the adults goats and moves easily within the herd. Alex is poultry safe, from tiny chicks to huge turkey and ducks. She keeps our free range poultry safe from areal and land predators but has quite a bit of fun chasing the birds of prey off the farm. We have not had one single attack since Alex joined our pack. Alex loves her humans with a great passion, ear rubs and belly scratches are her favorite! She is shy with new people but generally comes around for pets or she will rejoin her livestock. Alex gave us a beautiful litter of 13 G4 CMD puppies in November of which 3 are service dog candidates & 4 are therapy dog candidates. It’s in her genetics and we are just beyond thrilled with the Alex and Jackson’s pups. We retained 2, one as our future breeder and one as our daughter’s service dog in training. Health info~ clear hip and elbow, clear EMBARK results including CT. Reports available by request. Alex has double dew claws. She is UTD on standard vaccines. Alex will do best on a farm or ranch that has more room to run and roam than ours of 6 acres which has small pastures. She is active and won’t let anything onto our farm! She respects hot wire but will hop a regular 4’ fence to chase off a threat. She always recalls easily if she does hop a fence, returning very proud of herself that she chased away a threat. I feel that with more room to patrol, she will not feel the need to hop a fence to chase a threat. Hot wire would still be recommended though. She is also house trained and really enjoys her down time in the house. Alex will be a real asset to any farm with livestock or breeding program working with service dog goals!! Located in Ottsville, PA and willing to work with/recommend transport. $900. Contact Joanna at 267-567-2424 or joanna@frogtowncedarsfarm.com PAWD23F0011G3 with a birthdate of 2/19/2023
Posted Jan 15, 2025 NWF Estelle of BMF and NWF Antigone of BMF are looking for new livestock to guard! These sisters (littermates) are able to go together to a larger property that needs perimeter guarding, or separately to smaller properties with good fencing. Both these girls are sweet tempered, and happy to be with other pack members, neither are our dominant dogs. NWF Estelle of BMF is a happy girl who loves to snuggle, has been exposed to goats and poultry, and is eager to please. Estelle is excellent with goats. She needs more training with poultry, but I believe that will diligent training she could become poultry safe. Estelle needs a larger property where she is free to check all the perimeters and boundaries, otherwise she will choose to jump or climb out of her smaller enclosure and go check the perimeters of the whole property on her own. She also just might end up coming to the door hoping to be invited in. Estelle is intact. NWF Antigone of BMF is a happy girl who just had her first litter of pups on October 17th, 2024. She is currently used to being loved on and given special treatment because of her pregnancy. She is also a gentle, kind girl, who might even make an excellent companion dog. Antigone has been exposed to both goats and poultry. She is excellent with goats, but I wouldn’t leave her alone with poultry. She might be able to be trained to do well with poultry, but I believe that will take someone who is consistent and takes the time to work with her often. When it comes to goats, I think she believes she is one. Antigone (Tigs/Tiggy) will lay in fallen/low trees with the goats, and will walk with them as they graze. If you are interested please feel free to text or call Laura Walker at (406)600-7480. You can also send an email to bmfarm.lw@gmail.com please put the dogs name in your subject header so that I find your email easier. Located in Cumberland, Wisconsin.
Posted Jan 13, 2025 Two and a half year old Justice, MMC022F0001G3. Spayed 12/10/24, clean legged, 29" at the shoulder and good with goats and children, she is affectionate and polite, silky coated, with a high work drive and experience within the fenced perimeter deterring coyotes, skunk, cattle, hawks, etc. Electric fence trained so no climb or dig. She is very playful and energetic, athletic and perpetually just a happy, goofy girl.
I am rehoming Justice because she does not get along with my other female. Poultry are close but not adjacent ; they are well-fenced away from her as she is definitely not poultry or cat safe at this time. In fact, Justice will hunt mice, gophers and moles all summer to the point of needing less kibble (I feed Victor)! Though she hasn't warmed up to the idea of riding in cars or leaving the property at all, she does have excellent recall and good manners, even during grooming if it's at home in familiar surroundings. She grew up in a pack of 2 older neutered uncles and with her mother here for evaluation... she has not shown me the calm demeanor necessary to contribute to my line and so, sadly, I feel the best choice would be to find here a home where she can be loved and thrive in an environment more suited to being either an only dog, or an only-female with a loving family. She has not shown any interest in coming into the house, but with her highly human-oriented personality, I think she would warm up well to that option if given.
If interested please call for a conversation about how Justice might be a good fit - LGD experience required.$1200. https://coloradomountaindogs.com/mmc (719)938-9704 (not textable), milkywaymountain@gmail.com
Jan 11, 2025 Blizzard is a 125 pound, neutered 15-month-old Colorado Mountain Dog (CMD) who has been a companion to our family since he was 14 weeks old. He is great with people and children and takes his role as a home and yard guardian seriously. He has a loud bark to alert you to any perceived threats but doesn’t bark excessively without reason. While he hasn’t been around livestock, he may thrive in a farm or guardian setting with space to work and roam.
Blizzard has shown some behavioral challenges, including resource guarding and occasional aggression, which will require an experienced handler familiar with the CMD breed. He has been around cats and dogs, and while he’s good most of the time, he will test boundaries and occasionally get into scuffles. He does not test our 4-foot fences and has been a reliable protector. Blizzard seems happiest with a purpose, which is why we believe he would do well on a farm or large property.
Location: Blizzard is currently located in Waukesha, WI. We are looking for a loving home where someone experienced with his breed can provide the structure, training, and environment he needs to succeed. Contact Coutney — cort.heckel@gmail.com 414-935-8721
Posted Jan 6, 2024 Meet Jack, a charming 7-month-old Colorado Mountain Dog. Jack was brought into our home at 4 months old after coming from Timbers of Fennario where he spent time with several other siblings, older CMDs and chickens.
Jack is great with cats, children and dogs of all kinds. He is not only well-mannered but also impressively disciplined for his age. He doesn’t jump, lick people, or pull on the leash, making him an easy and enjoyable companion during walks and daily activities. Despite his young age, Jack has no behavioral problems and is eager to please. However, he doesn't like to be left alone, as his affectionate personality craves companionship. For this reason, Jack would benefit from living with livestock and putting his natural instincts to work.
He came from a litter at Timbers of Fennario Kennel. More info here: https://www.shawnasdoglife.com/dstjackstraw

POSTED Jan 2, 2024 - Proven Colorado Mountain Dog Stud Available (G4) With some trepidation, we are offering H2H Mingus of BSK (G4) to the right family. Mingus embodies everything that makes the Colorado Mountain Dog breed extraordinary. Steadfast and reliable, he is a calm, discerning guardian who only alerts to true threats, including predators on both land and air. His intelligence shines through in his purposeful barking, and he respects boundaries, and doesn’t challenge fences. Mingus is warm and people-loving, quickly treating guests like family once welcomed onto the property. His child-friendly, family-oriented nature makes him not only a trusted guardian but also a beloved companion. Visitors and neighbors alike frequently comment on his striking appearance, with his thick red coat, black eyeliner, and perfectly curled tail adding to his presence. Raised with goats on our farm, Mingus has proven to be an exceptional livestock guardian. As a sire, his genetics are outstanding. He has successfully sired three purebred CMD litters (G5) of 9, 10, and 11 pups, producing amazing farm and family guardians who are deeply adored by their families. Mingus has been health tested through Wisdom’s breeder panel and is completely clear, ensuring excellent genetic health and a strong contribution to the CMD lineage. Why We’re Letting Mingus Go: We adore Mingus, but our breeding program has captured his genetic traits, and to focus on furthering the program, we need to reduce the number of dogs on our farm. If we cannot find an excellent match for Mingus, we will neuter him and keep him as part of our family here at Big Sky Acres. Important Notes: • Mingus generally does not assert his dominance, but if challenged by another dominant male—especially an intact one—he will stand his ground. He gets along well with females and less dominant males. • Like most dogs, Mingus loves his food and doesn’t like to share, particularly with birds like ducks and turkeys. He has been around chickens but hasn’t been unsupervised with free-range poultry, as ours are cooped. We are asking $2,500 for Mingus as an intact, proven guardian. If interested or for more information, please contact Jonnae Shetter at 970-888-1383.
