Available Adult CMDR Colorado Mountain Dogs
Some breeders offer fully trained adults CMD guardians, some people have life changes and need to rehome adult dogs, and some people have dogs that don’t fit in their situations, but who may flourish in another setting. Posts should specify these details. An experienced guardian has value, and placing a healthy price on your dog helps ensure his next home will value and be able to care for him or her.
Posts are $25, last 3 months, and can be purchased in our store. Then email a quality photo, descriptions, and your contact info to: coloradomountaindogs@gmail.com
Posted Jan 20,2025 CNK Evenstar, MAR Halo x CNK Elessar born Feb 2023. Spayed.
Even is a stunning girl, a dedicated goat dog, and would be a great addition to an existing guardian pack. She is a sensitive dog, tuned into her owner, but comfortable with my guests in the pen, coming right up to be petted. Even spent some time in a pet home and it didn’t work at all. She needs a goat herd, and would be a great adult dog to accompany and mentor a CMDR puppy, or to accompany another adult CMDR dog, for someone who needs a herd guarded now and doesn’t wish to raise pups. — 1950

Posted Jan 15, 2025 —Two handsome intact and breeder quality male pups looking for new livestock to guard and family to love. They were born in May 2024 to Dam OUM Ember and Sire PAWD Cloud. Both parents tested.
Through no fault of their own, we need to re-home these sweet boys. They bark appropriately, we simply underestimated the the proximity of our neighbor to the their fence line.
Both are well mannered, extremely friendly and affectionate. They are fence respecting and great with our Nigerian Dwarf goats, other dogs and chickens (in their run, not free range). No problem at all with children or people coming into fenced area, never any signs of aggression whatsoever. Have never been in the house, have spent all of their time with goats in the barn. They are still young, but are very protective when they sense or see animals around their 4’high fence. Fairly self maintained coats, but tolerate a little grooming just fine. They have received all vaccines and timely veterinary care. Microchipped.
OUM Roy has a gorgeous black coat, and is the first to go toward a threat. He will also be the first to the fence to say hello and give you a nice wag. Registration# OUM024M0015G4, OUM Rebel is the white furred gentleman, quieter of the two. He is more of a thinker than Roy, and will hang back with the goats while Roy looks to the threat, then join him if need be. Registration#OUM024M0014G4 Location: OUM Rebel and OUM Roy are located in Pennsylvania. They are brothers and we’d love to keep them together, but will consider separating if the situation is right. $2,000 for both, $1,250 each. References required. For more information call Billee 215-378-9449.
Posted Jan 15, 2025 NWF Estelle of BMF and NWF Antigone of BMF are looking for new livestock to guard! These sisters (littermates) are able to go together to a larger property that needs perimeter guarding, or separately to smaller properties with good fencing. Both these girls are sweet tempered, and happy to be with other pack members, neither are our dominant dogs. NWF Estelle of BMF is a happy girl who loves to snuggle, has been exposed to goats and poultry, and is eager to please. Estelle is excellent with goats. She needs more training with poultry, but I believe that will diligent training she could become poultry safe. Estelle needs a larger property where she is free to check all the perimeters and boundaries, otherwise she will choose to jump or climb out of her smaller enclosure and go check the perimeters of the whole property on her own. She also just might end up coming to the door hoping to be invited in. Estelle is intact. NWF Antigone of BMF is a happy girl who just had her first litter of pups on October 17th, 2024. She is currently used to being loved on and given special treatment because of her pregnancy. She is also a gentle, kind girl, who might even make an excellent companion dog. Antigone has been exposed to both goats and poultry. She is excellent with goats, but I wouldn’t leave her alone with poultry. She might be able to be trained to do well with poultry, but I believe that will take someone who is consistent and takes the time to work with her often. When it comes to goats, I think she believes she is one. Antigone (Tigs/Tiggy) will lay in fallen/low trees with the goats, and will walk with them as they graze. If you are interested please feel free to text or call Laura Walker at (406)600-7480. You can also send an email to bmfarm.lw@gmail.com please put the dogs name in your subject header so that I find your email easier. Located in Cumberland, Wisconsin.
Posted Jan 13, 2025 Two and a half year old Justice, MMC022F0001G3. Spayed 12/10/24, clean legged, 29" at the shoulder and good with goats and children, she is affectionate and polite, silky coated, with a high work drive and experience within the fenced perimeter deterring coyotes, skunk, cattle, hawks, etc. Electric fence trained so no climb or dig. She is very playful and energetic, athletic and perpetually just a happy, goofy girl.
I am rehoming Justice because she does not get along with my other female. Poultry are close but not adjacent ; they are well-fenced away from her as she is definitely not poultry or cat safe at this time. In fact, Justice will hunt mice, gophers and moles all summer to the point of needing less kibble (I feed Victor)! Though she hasn't warmed up to the idea of riding in cars or leaving the property at all, she does have excellent recall and good manners, even during grooming if it's at home in familiar surroundings. She grew up in a pack of 2 older neutered uncles and with her mother here for evaluation... she has not shown me the calm demeanor necessary to contribute to my line and so, sadly, I feel the best choice would be to find here a home where she can be loved and thrive in an environment more suited to being either an only dog, or an only-female with a loving family. She has not shown any interest in coming into the house, but with her highly human-oriented personality, I think she would warm up well to that option if given.
If interested please call for a conversation about how Justice might be a good fit - LGD experience required.$1200. https://coloradomountaindogs.com/mmc (719)938-9704 (not textable), milkywaymountain@gmail.com
Jan 11, 2025 Blizzard is a 125 pound, neutered 15-month-old Colorado Mountain Dog (CMD) who has been a companion to our family since he was 14 weeks old. He is great with people and children and takes his role as a home and yard guardian seriously. He has a loud bark to alert you to any perceived threats but doesn’t bark excessively without reason. While he hasn’t been around livestock, he may thrive in a farm or guardian setting with space to work and roam.
Blizzard has shown some behavioral challenges, including resource guarding and occasional aggression, which will require an experienced handler familiar with the CMD breed. He has been around cats and dogs, and while he’s good most of the time, he will test boundaries and occasionally get into scuffles. He does not test our 4-foot fences and has been a reliable protector. Blizzard seems happiest with a purpose, which is why we believe he would do well on a farm or large property.
Location: Blizzard is currently located in Waukesha, WI. We are looking for a loving home where someone experienced with his breed can provide the structure, training, and environment he needs to succeed. Contact Coutney — cort.heckel@gmail.com 414-935-8721
Posted Jan 6, 2024 Meet Jack, a charming 7-month-old Colorado Mountain Dog. Jack was brought into our home at 4 months old after coming from Timbers of Fennario where he spent time with several other siblings, older CMDs and chickens.
Jack is great with cats, children and dogs of all kinds. He is not only well-mannered but also impressively disciplined for his age. He doesn’t jump, lick people, or pull on the leash, making him an easy and enjoyable companion during walks and daily activities. Despite his young age, Jack has no behavioral problems and is eager to please. However, he doesn't like to be left alone, as his affectionate personality craves companionship. For this reason, Jack would benefit from living with livestock and putting his natural instincts to work.
He came from a litter at Timbers of Fennario Kennel. More info here: https://www.shawnasdoglife.com/dstjackstraw

Posted Jan 4, 2025 CNK Legolas. “Legs” is a 1.5 year old male who has been on duty with goats and poultry. He is high work drive and will go to acreage with livestock. Legs is amazing… a bit shy towards people he doesn’t know, but bonds with his owner. I can bring guests into my livestock pens safely as he has never shown aggression to humans. He will bark at distant humans. Legs is good with puppies, and other intact male dogs. He was in with poultry safely at 5 months of age!
This stunning boy is available. Already neutered. Parents tested DNA clear. wendyjfrancisco@gmail.com, 970-623-0598. www.crackonoonfarms.com.
POSTED Jan 2, 2024 - Proven Colorado Mountain Dog Stud Available (G4) With some trepidation, we are offering H2H Mingus of BSK (G4) to the right family. Mingus embodies everything that makes the Colorado Mountain Dog breed extraordinary. Steadfast and reliable, he is a calm, discerning guardian who only alerts to true threats, including predators on both land and air. His intelligence shines through in his purposeful barking, and he respects boundaries, and doesn’t challenge fences. Mingus is warm and people-loving, quickly treating guests like family once welcomed onto the property. His child-friendly, family-oriented nature makes him not only a trusted guardian but also a beloved companion. Visitors and neighbors alike frequently comment on his striking appearance, with his thick red coat, black eyeliner, and perfectly curled tail adding to his presence. Raised with goats on our farm, Mingus has proven to be an exceptional livestock guardian. As a sire, his genetics are outstanding. He has successfully sired three purebred CMD litters (G5) of 9, 10, and 11 pups, producing amazing farm and family guardians who are deeply adored by their families. Mingus has been health tested through Wisdom’s breeder panel and is completely clear, ensuring excellent genetic health and a strong contribution to the CMD lineage. Why We’re Letting Mingus Go: We adore Mingus, but our breeding program has captured his genetic traits, and to focus on furthering the program, we need to reduce the number of dogs on our farm. If we cannot find an excellent match for Mingus, we will neuter him and keep him as part of our family here at Big Sky Acres. Important Notes: • Mingus generally does not assert his dominance, but if challenged by another dominant male—especially an intact one—he will stand his ground. He gets along well with females and less dominant males. • Like most dogs, Mingus loves his food and doesn’t like to share, particularly with birds like ducks and turkeys. He has been around chickens but hasn’t been unsupervised with free-range poultry, as ours are cooped. We are asking $2,500 for Mingus as an intact, proven guardian. If interested or for more information, please contact Jonnae Shetter at 970-888-1383.
SOLD Posted Jan 4, 2025 Reluctantly letting go of MAR Lion of CNK, UUU Winchester x HSF Chloe, G2. This is a stunning pup, friendly, has been in with poultry since he was 5 months, is now 9 months. Posted Dec 19, 2024 — WORKING PAIR : Must go together : Three year old Lonan, MMC021M001G2 + Two year old Justice, MMC022F0001G3. Currently with Dairy goats on 7 fenced acres. Lonan was neutered at 10 months old, Justice is an intact Maiden, clean legged. Both are 29" at the shoulder and good with goats and children. Both are very affectionate and polite, easy to groom and have fairly self-maintaining coats, and a bonded working pair (Lonan is Justice's close cousin and helped raise her) that could easily perform predator control as both have a high work drive and experience within the fenced perimeter deterring coyotes, skunk, cattle, hawks. Electric fence trained so no climb or dig yet. I have raised a team of four dogs and decided to split up the team into two Male/Female pairs - I think Justice would fight with another female and Lonan may dominate other males, so this team would be best suited to work alone on big acreage. They are used to top hot wire over 4' high box fencing, polite with gates. They will keep cattle off the perimeter and steward 100 dairy goats (have not attended kiddings yet). Poultry are close but not adjacent ; well-fenced away - Lonan and Justice are definitely not poultry safe at this time. In fact, Justice will hunt gophers and moles all summer to the point of needing less kibble (I feed Victor). This is a great opportunity to get a turn-key working team. $3000 for both. References required. https://coloradomountaindogs.com/mmc
SOLD Stunning 2 year old CMD looking for new home - Wellington, CO Bear is a 115 lb neutered CMD that is very loving and makes quite the impression! The routine vet visits have been no issue and he was one of CSU staff's fan favorites this year. He has no issues being outside all the time with his impressive coat, and has protected with our goats with no predation deaths this year. We can claim to be the only local ranch to this metric, all others have no dogs lose stock annually. We have bathed and dried him with high velocity drier without issue. He would do fine with female dogs and possibly neutered male dogs. The Angora goats are available to place with Bear as well.

SOLD Posted Nov 16, 2024 Beautiful 6 month female pup. Lilac. She is white with a dark blue undercoat. Very people oriented. -1650 wendyjfrancisco@gmail.com, 970-623-0598, text or call.
SOLD MAR Fenris of STHH is looking for his new farm. He is 18 months old and one of my best working dogs. Finn is always on alert, walking the perimeter and watching for threats but only barks appropriately. He has been raised with Goats his whole life. Although he will stay close to home, when in his pen with the goats he respects our flimsy 4ft Hog panel Fence. He has been in with does during kidding and done well. He can be a little bouncy when excited so we don’t usually keep him in with the kids full time. He loves people and children, he greets every visitor with a wagging tail but he’s not the type to need affection or want to come in the house. He’s happy doing his job and can be a workaholic. Finn has been struggling with the other male dogs and needs a home where he is the only male. At the moment he is not chicken safe but this may change once he is in a setting where he is the only male. Will be neutered before leaving. He loves cats and has been exposed to pigs, and turkeys. Both parents tested CMR1/DM clear. Perfect coat, single dews, doesn't challenge my fences. The ONLY reason I am parting with her is that I am keeping her full brother CNK Erebor as my next main stud. SOLD Sept 15, 2024 Artemis and Diamond (STR Amaranth x CNK Bruinen) are litter mates and have been together with our family since they were puppies. We are moving across country into very different living conditions, and we sadly have to find a new forever home for these two wonderful dogs. They are four year old spayed and microchipped females. Artemis is the smaller of the two, and Diamond a bit larger. We live on five and a half acres in Wyoming, and they have had all that room to roam and love it. They are family dogs, but I have noticed that they pretend we are their livestock and guard us (or the neighbor’s horses or our cat), so you may be able to train them to guard livestock but we would have to discuss whether that would be advisable or the best fit for them. Diamond and Artemis absolutely love people, especially children, and are the most loving and tolerant dogs ever. They have grown up with two young children and even jump on the in-ground trampoline with them and tolerate a gaggle of children jumping on them and hugging them. They are good-natured, playful, sweet, smart, happy, loving and always at our side. They spend the night inside and do not like to be separated from their humans. They are fully house-trained and go to the groomers a few times a year. They love to go for walks every day, and they love to travel with us when we go skiing or hiking. I think they would be happiest with an active family or couple who has a bit of room for them to explore, but they don’t require much as long as you are dedicated to walking them daily and including them in your activities. They get along well with other dogs and love to go to dog parks and play. They also get along very well together and have established a healthy and loving relationship. They would probably do best staying together. If you are looking for loyal and wonderful companions, you will be so lucky to make these two part of your family. Located in Cody, Wyoming. We are happy to meet within a couple of hours or facilitate transport. $1,500 for the pair. For more information, please contact Tara 509-520-3469.
SOLD Posted August 27, 2024. Willow is one of the CMDR's first generation females who helped start our community! UUU Willow of MMC, UUUMMC019F001G1, is poultry safe (chickens, ducks, turkeys), great with visitors, lives with goats, a horse, and small dogs, Wills is an absolute love. She prefers to be outside here year-round, as we prefer that as well... but could happily live in a cool house! Here she loves to just waltz in the house briefly, maybe once a month or so to check things out and then leave again, just to make sure things are all as she remembered. She's eradicated our skunk population, alerts to and pursues aerial predators, and is a true matriarch on the ranch. Anybody feels comfortable around her; one would call her bombproof and she has represented the breed locally at garden fairs and Head Start. She is older now and does struggle on hot days - this summer solved with a good deep hole allowed under a shady deck and a full trough of water. Last summer I brought her in for the cool basement floor. She's good on car rides and stands well for grooming. Loves EVERYBODY and knows she's the cutest. Excellent in town - a toddler could lead her - she is obedient and tractable, gets along with all dogs and people, doesn't roam or test fences. Has gained some weight since her spaying - now at about 125 lbs, and six years old. As a beloved retired elder (had three litters), we're looking for a family home that can make sure she gets the properly fully attentive care, nutrition, and hydration.

Oberon x Daisy fixed male and female ranch guardians. Age 2 in Oct. Perfect with goats, poultry, people. They keep mountain lions, bears, coyotes and foxes at bay. They do great with chickens, turkeys, and goats, but not horses or cattle. They play with our rat terriers on the daily, they do fine with guest dogs unless they look like a coyote. I would love for them to stay together as a pair if possible. They winter and summer outdoors and only need shelter.
