Available Adult CMDR Colorado Mountain Dogs
Some breeders offer fully trained adults CMD guardians, some people have life changes and need to rehome adult dogs, and some people have dogs that don’t fit in their situations, but who may flourish in another setting. Posts should specify these details. An experienced guardian has value, and placing a healthy price on your dog helps ensure his next home will value and be able to care for him or her. Posts are $25, last 3 months, and can be purchased in our store. Then email a quality photo, descriptions, and your contact info to: coloradomountaindogs@gmail.com
Posted March 19,2026 - Colorado OUM Po is looking for new pastures to protect. Po is a ginormous, 10 month old, generation 4, intact, goofball. He has done excellent with his livestock training and has been super impressive with chickens at such a young age. Po has been an outstanding mentor to younger pups, best male mentor I have ever had! He smiles when you go out to see him which would be a little intimidating if you didn’t know he was smiling to see you and not a barring his teeth. But this boy has nothing but pure love for his people. He can still be a bit excitable and hates to be on leash. Po was my pick of the litter and is CT clear. He is being rehomed due to scaling down our breeding program after 8 wonderful years of breeding. $1250. Cotopaxi, CO. Willing to meet within reason. (970) 409-2152 vanessalwoodson@yahoo.com
Posted March 19,2026 - Colorado HFR Grover is looking for a new home. He absolutely loves people and has been a fantastic stud for us. He is Generation 4, has a clear Wisdom Panel and carries the blue gene. Grover is super tall & slender, he is not an alpha, and makes gorgeous puppies. He is being rehomed as we are scaling down our breeding program after 8 amazing years. $1650. Located in Cotopaxi, CO. Willing to meet within reason. (970)409-2152 vanessalwoodson@yahoo.com
Posted March 18, 2026 — Colorado. Huge 14 month male G4 CMD. Elwood is a people dog, loves attention, has been in with our goats since summer. He is a diligent guardian. Prefer to place him where he will be a solo guardian or guard with one other female as a team. He must be 32 inches at the shoulder… a giant. $1850 wendyjfrancisco@gmail.com, 970-623-0598.
POSTED MARCH 10,2026 Colorado — After long consideration, I’ve made the decision to place several exceptional dogs in new homes. It’s not a step I take lightly. Most of the goats they are guarding will be leaving by the end of April, as I am no longer operating the farm share goat dairy.
I therefore will have five or six CMDs realistically, who will be out of a job also. All of these dogs are breeding candidates and are intact. G3s Omen, Reishi, and Baron, G4 TMF Ingrid (a classic CMD, our first “Caspian Mountain Dog”), and even our all-star mom G2 MMC. Anastasia have been raised with intention, integrity, and an immense amount of love. They are not just working dogs — they are partners and pieces of my heart that I am committed to doing right by. If you think you can offer any one or pair of these dogs a good working home in a loving family, please reach out and we can share ideas and make a plan together.
If you're looking for a working team, or a young breeding pair with amazing potential, Ingrid and Omen would make a great team, or Ingridand Baron. All three are experienced with goats and at a year and a half old are soon to be fully trained. They still need playmates though, so I'm not having them with the goats unsupervised at this point. They have been introduced to poultry briefly and did well. Anna is turning six this year and she and Reishi (mother + daughter, also 18 months old) also make a great team. Both are excellent with the goats and sheep, though Anna is not poultry safe. I have Embark results for all dogs except Baron at this point.
The MMC line is taller than most, with a high work drive, excellent behavior with children and visitors, and many having some leash and obedience training. Reishi and Omen are good in the house, and though Anna travels well and does fantastic on trips to restaurants and town like most LGDs she is happiest outside with a lot of acreage to work. Anna has had two litters. As an Alpha female she will not tolerate other females in general in her working area, nor will her daughter, though they are good together. Omen has some nausea in cars, but loves to do obedience lessons, and Ingrid so far despises collars, leashes, and cars and requires some anti-nausea meds to travel. All dogs respect fences and are familiar with electric lines, so do not climb or jump, though Baron will push, and Anna will dig.

POSTED March 7, 2026. Missouri — Colorado Mountain Dog (CMD) 5 year old male livestock guardian, Ranger. Chuck Norris son. We are looking for the right home for Ranger, our 5 year old intact male Colorado Mountain Dog. Ranger is a true working livestock guardian with excellent instincts. He has been raised with birds of all sizes, from chickens to ostrich, and has proven himself trustworthy and protective. He has successfully chased off packs of coyotes and kept wild dogs off our property. He takes his job seriously and loves being on patrol. He is very active and needs space and purpose. Ranger gets bored easily without a job, so he would do best on acreage with livestock and or other guardian dogs. He thrives with other dogs and does well with dogs of all sizes. We believe he would benefit from working alongside other guardians. Ranger is friendly and affectionate with his people and enjoys coming inside, but he also loves being outdoors doing his job. While he is friendly, he has an intimidating presence to outside visitors, which makes him an excellent guardian. Important: Ranger is afraid of loud noises such as thunder and will attempt to escape fencing during storms (finds weak spots but does not climb). A very secure fencing setup and or experience with livestock guardian breeds is strongly recommended. We are committed to finding him the right working home where he can thrive and continue doing what he was bred to do. Please message with details about your property, livestock, and guardian experience. $2,000. Erica. Jasper mo. Ph. 916-365-6595
>SOLD< POSTED FEB 18, 2026 - Colorado *T23 RiverJoy of STHH* is a G3 Colorado Mountain Dog and one of the most dedicated guardians on our homestead. River is our strongest patrol dog. In all her time here, she has only cleared a 4-foot fence once — and that was to tree a mountain lion by herself. She does not test fences otherwise and is excellent with chickens, pigs, dogs, and goats. She enjoys the company of other dogs but can be somewhat of a loner. River is extremely low maintenance — the kind of dog you sometimes forget is there because she quietly and faithfully does her job. She is house trained and enjoys coming inside for snuggles, but she is equally content staying outdoors. River has an intimidating presence with strangers, but if they only knew — she truly loves people and would happily cuddle everyone. She walks beautifully on leash and is trained to a GPS collar. Her happiest place is roaming the property and sleeping on the porch while keeping watch for any potential threats. She gets along with female dogs but would be best suited in a home with a male companion. River will be available April 15 after she is spayed and has a gastropexy. She has clean DNA and an excellent hip family history. This girl is a true gem. *$2,500* Located in Hot Sulphur Springs, CO Toni Harms 970-531-1325
Meet Greta, a 3 year old female spayed G4 CMD. (GHH) Greta is great with goats, chickens and ducks. I imagine she would be great with cows and horses but we have not had her around them.
We have a few German Shepard's and she's great with other dogs male and female. Greta barks as she should when she hears sounds and neighbors that are in our close proximity back yard, however, being the only livestock dog is an issue - as she really needs another to have back up. We have a very small homestead and Greta needs more acreage than we can provide for her, and we feel she's better suited to do the job she's great at, which is alerting us to any activity around the farm.
She is the absolute most loving and gentle dog we have ever owned. We have spent a lot of time with her and she is trained with basic commands, leash trained, house trained and loves cars rides.
Greta is electric fence / GPS collar trained, no climbing or digging.
She does come inside a night and stays in our mudroom- although she would be fine with other dogs/ goats in a barn.
She is wonderful with all people, adults and children. She would make a wonderful family dog and or livestock dog for a farm that has a lot of space/ acreage outdoors. She would NOT do well in a neighborhood with proximity to neighbors with lots of loud noises.
She Barks! She needs space. If you have any predator issues- she’s excellent at alerting !
Great has Dew claws on her rear legs and she's a big girl at 110 lbs. She is up to date with all her vaccines and very well mannered. If you are interested in Greta - please reach out to Dawn Fusco at 860-209-8142 or dawnfusco@comcast.net

SOLD — Posted Dec 14, 2025 — Colorado — Meet FDM Bowser of STHH, a G5 CMDR Colorado Mountain Dog. - Born March, 2024
Bowser is an absolute dream of a dog. He has never met a person he didn’t love and greets everyone—children and adults alike—with a wagging tail and a happy smile. He is equally kind and respectful with other animals, making him a true gentle giant.
Bowser works full-time with goats and takes his job seriously, but he also enjoys human companionship and happily accepts a few snuggles whenever they’re offered. Standing approximately 31 inches tall and weighing around 120 pounds, he is tall, lean, and well-built.
He is fence-respecting, stays close to home when turned out, and only barks when there is a legitimate threat. Bowser has a naturally calm, steady temperament and is very much a “bottom-of-the-pack” kind of guy. He will thrive in a home with another dog, as he looks to canine companions for guidance and tends to mirror their behavior.
Bowser has excellent DNA results, excellent hip radiographs, and is up to date on all vaccinations. He is scheduled to be neutered before he travels to his new home. $2500
