The Line Breeding Formulas of Dr. Jay Lush
Here is an educational link to an article summarizing Dr. Lush’s formulas.
Line breeding is a deliberate effort to set specific traits in exceptional individuals of domestic animals.
Line breeding is not for the convenience of making shortcuts and using your own breeding animals. All domestic breeds are line bred during development, and then to a lesser degree for the maintenance of breed quality.
The difference between line breeding and inbreeding is not fuzzy. It is clear and mathematical.
Mendel described the behavior of genetics but Jay Lush guides our pairings in line crossing in domestic animal breeds.
I started this breed with four animals: Caspian, Snow, River, and Tirian. Caspian was of such quality that he practically demanded to be line crossed into an amazing new breed. Snow, Tirian, and River, although they had good things to contribute, were nowhere near Caspian’s quality in type, temperament, or essence. They were not candidates for line crossing.
Currently, the only other dog in the CMDR database that is being actively line crossed is RDA Chuck Norris, who has proven himself in multiple generations. I am looking for these “unicorns” all the time. In all domestic animal breeds, such individuals are rare.
By the way, it is a myth that females may not be line crossed. DNA is DNA and as long as only one dog is being line crossed in a pedigree so that the coefficient isn’t driven too high, any exceptional dog may be used for line crossing.
I have studied pedigrees since I was a kid and am happy to look at your proposed pedigrees. Please study up first. Here is the article: https://www.instituteofcaninebiology.org/blog/lush-on-linebreeding
