Entering a New Dog Into The CMDR
We are excited to screen new possible entries into the CMDR Colorado Mountain Dog Breed.
Read the standard, and if your dog matches up, especially in the temperament, this is what we need:
1. Contact: We’ll ask you about your dog. (email: wendyjfrancisco@gmail.com). Send as many photos as you can, and we’ll have a phone interview. If the dog is a candidate, then do the following things.
2. Hips and elbows: To bring in a new dog to the CMDR, it needs a general exam and a hip/elbows check with x-rays after a year of age with a vet comment indicating breeding suitability. if you already have OFA or Pennhip results, all the better. We have a form below, which your vet can use to check off items and make comments about breeding suitability.
3. DNA Testing: Purchase the full health screen, for hundreds of possible conditions and not a partial screen, and which also contains breed composition. We recommend Embark or Wisdom full panels for DNA. They will send a small brush for you to rub on the inside of the dog’s cheek, and return in addressed packaging. It is very simple.
4. Send your DNA results to the email above, and the vet sheet below summarizing hip and elbow xrays, and breeding suitability. We’ll talk about all the test results and if your dog meets the requirements we will enter it into our pedigree database.
